Ok, so here’s the deal for the morning…
1. You pray the Sign of the Cross
2. You offer God your day…
This just means that you tell Him everything that’s coming up that you know of, then you say “take all that I think, do, and say and I unite it all with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass”…So this way your small sacrifices are being united to His all-powerful and saving sacrifice on Calvary.
3. You read the Bible Passage. Then pause for like a minute or two.
4. Ask yourself 2 Questions:
a. What is the keyword or theme of this passage?
b. What does this have to do with me?
1 Samuel 16: 10-13
Thus Jesse made seven of his sons pass before Samuel. But Samuel said to Jesse, "The LORD has not chosen these."
And Samuel said to Jesse, "Are these all the children?" And he said, "There remains yet the youngest, and behold, he is tending the sheep." Then Samuel said to Jesse, "Send and bring him; for we will not sit down until he comes here."
So he sent and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, with beautiful eyes and a handsome appearance And the LORD said, "Arise, anoint him; for this is he."
Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of the LORD rushed upon David from that day forward. And Samuel arose and went to Ramah.
At the end of the day, before you go to bed….
Ask yourself 2 Questions:
1. How did God love me today?
2. How did I love God today?

OK I don't "get" a lot of old Testament stuff, but the meaning of this is clear. God doesn't judge the way man does. Jesse was sure that his youngest son (David) couldn't be the one Samuel was looking for. We should never judge based on apperence or first impressions.
I really like that...
about God not judging the same way the world does. I think that that's really hard to remember. And kind of like how we were talking in small groups on Sunday about how easy it is to forget the truth. Which is one of the reasons Brian said we were doing this whole 4-d thing to begin with, right? I mean really, how much of our lives are based off lies? I don't know about any of you, but before my whole life was basically a lie. I've come far in braking out of that, but in some forms, it's hard to break away from for any of us. How often do we listen to what everybody else says, and forget, or even plain ignore what God has to say? Or even project what the world desires as God's desires. We're told all the time that we don't amount to anything for all these different reasons, when really God has a different plan, where maybe we do amount to something?
But to think that God really does look at us, and judge us differently is pretty crazy, for me anyway. No one expected God to choose David, and yet, that was His plan. crazy...
Thanks Paul. the significance of this passage was really hard for me to see.
